The security and safety initiative is a voluntary effort initiated by An-Najah National University. The idea of adopting this kind of initiatives came as a result of our awareness of the importance of protecting the society, children and young adults in particular, from the possible danger of misusing internet, particularly social media platforms.
The initiative aims at raising societal awareness of the importance of safety on the internet, and creating strategic partnerships between relevant institutions in order to provide protection for victims of electronic crimes. In addition to An-Najah National University, there are governmental, private and non-profit organizations that are interested in issues around internet security and a healthy virtual society in Palestine and the Arab world a whole.
The starting point of this initiative coincides with the celebration of “Safer Internet Day” on the 2nd Feb.2018 to form sustainable communal action from different individuals, local institutions and community groups in order to maintain the Palestinian social fabric in the light of fast global movements towards openness as a result of the widespread of technological communication methods.
